There are bad songs. Then there are really bad songs. Then we have Bollywood songs inspired by Indian food. Food is an emotion you don’t mess with. But Bollywood did and made us cringe every time! From samosa to jalebis to malai rabri, we have a bunch of disasters that make our ears bleed. Here’s a list of five songs based on food, we wish Bollywood hadn’t made. 1. Samose Mein Aaloo from Mr And Mrs Khiladi Back in the ‘90s, a song starring Akshay Kumar and Juhi Jawla was dedicated to the most popular Indian snack--the humble samosa. It ain’t an ordinary snack. It’s a feeling. The song made every samosa lover cringe. Let’s not even get to the lyrics, “Jab tak rahega samose mein aaloo, chipki rahegi tujhse ye Shalu”-- we leave it at that. 2. Doodh ban jaungi, malai ban jaungi from SarhadScouring through random songs inspired by food led us to the creepiest song ever. We didn’t even know this song existed. The song starts with, “Doodh ban jaungi, malai ban jaungi, machhi ban jaungi kabab ban jaungi…” Quite unpleasant for all fish and kebab lovers. While we still need some time to unsee it, watch it at your own risk. 3. ‘Ice cream khaungi, Kashmir jaungi’ from The Xpose‘Ice cream khaungi, Kashmir jaungi, sholo mein dhadke jiya…’, what does that even mean? Did they try to say eating ice creams will take you to Kashmir? This song was an affront to ice cream lovers. We are really unsure how the dance and lyrics fit in here.4. Jalebi Bai from Double DhamaalThis song topped the charts for a really long time. Mallika Sherawat’s dance number made it to every party. Growing up we all had fond memories of the Dhara Jalebi ad, and then we have a song calling a woman, Jalebi Bai. It's really, well, bizarre.5. Mohabbat Hai Mirchi from Chura Liya Hai TumneThe only reason the movie got any attention was this song featuring Zayed Khan and Rakhi Sawant. Remember, ‘Teekhi Teekhi Tej Tej Yeh Sooli Par Hai Sej Sej Imaan Bankar Tum Rakhlo Mohabbat Hai Mirchi Mohabbat Hai Mirchi Mohabbat Hai’? They tried to use chilly as a metaphor for love, we get it. But it was too spicy to handle. Lead Image credit: Mr And Mrs Khiladi, Keshu Ramsay
